The Smart Campus Innovation Challenge invites students to design and develop innovative technology solutions that improve the university experience. Participants are encouraged to identify real-world challenges faced by students, faculty, or administration and create scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, accessibility, engagement, or sustainability on campus. Teams will compete by presenting a working prototype, business model, and implementation strategy to a panel of industry experts and academic leaders.
Universities face numerous operational and student-experience challenges, including inefficient resource management, communication gaps, student engagement issues, and limited access to support services. Your challenge is to develop a technology-driven solution that addresses one or more campus-related problems while ensuring usability, scalability, and measurable impact. Potential focus areas include: Student engagement and community building Academic support and learning enhancement Campus sustainability Smart resource management Mental health and well-being Accessibility and inclusion Campus safety and security

Team Composition 2–5 members per team Students from any discipline may participate Cross-disciplinary teams are encouraged Deliverables Project Proposal (2–3 pages) Presentation Deck (10–15 slides) Functional Prototype or MVP Demo Video (3–5 minutes) Business Model Canvas Technical Documentation Technical Requirements Solution must include a software component (web, mobile, AI, IoT, etc.) Must demonstrate innovation and practical feasibility Open-source tools and third-party APIs may be used All code and assets must be original or properly attributed
